Fun in the Sun

Haiku time:

Welcome to summer,
Sun, outdoors, swimming, beaches
I fucking hate this

I hate the heat and the sun. I want fall again. Fall truly is the most superior of the seasons.
Picture is my feelings on this holiday.

I tell you about nice things and insist that you enjoy them or else you are a lame and you don't want to be lame, do you?

Good afternoon.

Today I thought I could tell you about some things that I enjoy to try to make you happy by letting you enjoy them aswell.

Music:

of Montreal: of Montreal is a band from Athens, Georgia. Making salty sweet, fast beat, Indie pop tunes about everything from black crossgendered 70's funk singers to songs about depression while living in Norway. Kevin Barnes, the singer-songwriter is truly a genius. The band has some sing-out-loud-while-skipping-down-mainstreet songs and some that are depressing and tragic. Being part of the legendary elephant-six recording label, of Montreal is a true tragic treat.

Recommended Albums:
-The Gay Parade
-Hissing Fauna, are you the Destroyer?

Gay parade is early of Montreal and is a childish and cute while Hissing fauna is a much more deep and sad tale about how Kevin Barnes transforms into his alter ego Georgie Fruit.

Los Campensinos!: Another Indie pop band from Whales. This 7 member band is spastastically amazing. Playing a plethora of cheery instruments, Los Campensinos! combines fast cheery instumentals with smart and interesting lyrincs. I really love this band and have been listening to them constantly since I found out about them. This band also reminds me of Tomato Soup Girl.

Recommended Album:
-Hold On Now Youngster

Movies:

From Dusk Till Dawn: What does Quentin Tarantino, George Clooney, Robert Rodriguez, vampires, strippers and unbelievable amounts of action have in common? They are all featured in this movie! I just saw From Dusk Till Dawn and I have to admit that it is an INCREDIBLY over the top movie that is simply fun to watch. It is about two bank robbing brothers played by Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney who end up in a bar called "the Titty Twister" along with their 3 hostages and discover that it is an all-you-can-eat diner for vampires. Blood spatter ensues. A very funny and very action packed movie that shouldn't be taken seriously.

Fear and loathing in Las Vegas: The epic Hunter S. Thompson story was made into a movie in 1998. Raoul Duke played by Johnny Depp is lookng for the "American Dream" along with his crazy samoan lawyer. They go to Lass Vegas along with, and I quote:
"two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls."

So basically they go on a psychedlic, drug fuelled trip (pun intended) around las Vegas andjust do crazy shit. It is a interesting film with great narration and acting by Johnny Depp and his partner Bencio Del Toro. Toby Maguire also makes a few funny appearances.

Dutch trip (forgive spelling and grammar)

DAG 1: It was 2.30 in the morning. The dim lights flickering at the local bunnpris invited me back to sleep. With my tourist costume on i met up with my friend ready to kick some dutch ass. The buss was tiresome. No sleep in over 18 hours
After the painful flight and train,
we arrived in the town of Breda
where an armada of weird looking, greased up dutch monkey people took our baggage and walked us down to the local pub.
it was the middle of the day and without sleep, i crawled back to their school and tried to stay awake through a German and a french class.
upon arriving home, the welcoming scent of lavender toilet soap and french fries stuck me as i walked into the small cramped room of Sjoerd, my match.
Blackout as i probably slept for 12 hours straight

Day 2: Woke up to sounds of birds chirping. Spring time had obviously come to the flat flat country we lived in.

After finding out about that dutch people eat sprinkles for breakfast we cycled our 50 minutes to get the school.
once getting off the extremely awesome, laid back chrome handlebars bike, my legs became jelly and i fell over in front of a gang of ugly degenerate dutch kids. Pride broken, along with my ability to walk, I struggled to get up to the classroom where the overly effeminate teacher named Wim told us about the city walk we were going to have to survive. Panic struck. I was far too tired, I had slept 12 h
hours of the last 50
and my mind was wandering off.
While walking through the city streets of the city, i looked at the bars and pubs and thought about the day to day activities of these orange loving europeans. they party every weekend without remorse and just tear shit apart.
once the city walk was over we went into town.
I think i fell asleep in the bar while the others were watching. I didn't care, the only thing i did care about was just shutting my eyes and thinking about pixies and leprechauns.
we cycled home and i slept more

The Mind

Hello children.

Today, while laying on the floor in my messy room, I thought about what the mind is to the body.
The mind reacts to our senses: hearing, feeling, seeing, smelling and tasting. Without these, we wouldn't know anything. We wouldn't know that we existed, our lived in anyway.

But does the mind exist without the knowledge of the body? Is the mind something completely for its self that operate and works in ways that we can truly never understand?

I really hope that the thoughts aren't just random electrical surges. i want the mind to be like an invisible ballon attached to our bodies that gets bigger or smaller because we fill it up with all our thoughts and feelings and when we die the balloon floats on into the peaceful abyss and this abyss is what we might call the afterlife.

Nihilist last note: We probably end when we die. im going to listen to the Unicorns album "who will cut our hair when we are gone?" and get all depressed because at some point I will cease to be.
